Lawrence still travels all over to further his learning experience but he places a higher emphasis on his responsibility to teach the students at the clubs in Colchester.

The club teaching is purely based on the practice of Traditional Shotokan and great emphasis is placed on club unity and enjoyment with education.

Karate is now recognised as a valuable part of physical education and is recognised by the education authorities throughout the country and other prestigeous organisations. Lawrence has helped a number of students through the Duke of Edinburgh Award and has also assisted with the GCSE Physical Education Course element in Karate. The KUGB has the relevant syllabus for GCSE and A Level Courses. Lawrence has completed the Instructor Programme and looking forward to continuing his learning and personal development programme.

In October 2004 Lawrence attended the 30th Gasshuku/ Course in Paris under Sensei Ochi 8th dan and the current JKA Chief European Instructor. Lawrence first met this prominent teacher some years ago at the World HQ of the JKA.

In April 2004 Lawrence organised a party of 15 people to visit Japan primarily to train at the JKA HQ. This year other travel plans are well under way for other club trips possibly to the West Indies to train in the Bahamas and more trips to the continent.

The club also plans to enter a number of competitions in the coming year.
